Can you power wash porcelain tiles?

Yes and porcelain only needs a light power washing. I would however be careful around the grout and make sure you do not use a very high powered power wash.

Any stubborn stains such as rust, leaf and timber tannins may be removed with a specialist porcelain cleaner specifically designed to clean porcelain.

Should we seal our porcelain paving patio?

Porcelain paving has a very low porosity therefore moss and algae can’t stick to the surface, so as a general rule no it does not require sealing.

Porcelain paving is however prone to rust staining and wood and leaf tannin staining which can be removed with a specialist cleaner and some elbow grease.

All this said you can buy porcelain sealants that will fill the micro pores on the surface of the porcelain and that will help prevent rust, leaf and wood tannin stains.

Do porcelain paving patio slabs stain?

Porcelain is highly resistant to staining and algal growth due its density/hardness and it’s extremely low porosity. Rust, wood and leaf tannins can stain porcelain but can be easily removed with a specialist porcelain cleaner.

Good news. Porcelain paving is an incredibly hard product, very hard wearing and one the best options for your garden project.

Porcelain tiles are very durable and hard wearing but acids and other similar chemicals may damage the surface.

Is there any chance that our new porcelain tiles will crack in the cold?

Porcelain tiles are fired at high temperatures and are only 0.05% porous. Therefore outdoor porcelain is considered to be frost proof and ideal for the English climate.

Does porcelain paving eventually fade?

Porcelain paving is UV stable and shouldn’t fade significantly for many years.

Should our porcelain paving patio have been primed?

It is essential to apply slurry primer to the the whole of the back of the porcelain paving slab at 2mm thickness. Due to porcelain tiles being virtually non porous a slurry primer provides the bond to the mortar bed.

How long should our new porcelain patio paving last for?

Providing the porcelain tiles have been laid correctly they should last 20 years as they a hard and durable material.
